MG Midget and Sprite General - Is this a con or what!

OK, here's an advert for a supposedly one of, very special austin healy sprite mk IV.

Look closely at the pictures, there are some discrepancies...

Does anybody know whether a special like this was ever built?

And I know I've seen a similar ad like this with the same specialties but I seem to remember a different car.

How tamper proof are the heritage certificates actually?

I'm definitely no expert, but it certainly doesn't look like a factory build to me. Note that the gaps between the A Post and the sill and the rear guard and sill have been filled, which is normally a bad sign. Also note that the underbonnet picture is with a 1 piece front end, but that the other pictures look to have seperate guards and bonnet? It may be a good car as a driver, but I'd want to have a very good look in person, and I'd be very skeptical about any claims that it was factory built as you see it in the pictures. Certainly the roll bar doesn't look period to me either.

Actually, I just noticed that the front flare continues down and attaches the guard to the sill! When considered with the fact that the engine bay picture shows a 1 piece front end, there is no way that it could have always been like this, unless

A) The front end has been redone (probably has to be true regardless, the joint between guard and sill would surely have cracked over the years), thus making its supposed heritage mostly redundant,
or
B) The engine bay picture is of a totally different car...

Very suspicious, I'd stay well away. Again, bought cheap enough it could be a good driver, but there's some serious issues there.

Not only is the engine bay showing a full lift front but I'd hate to be the one steering it on the right hand side whilst the brake and clutch master cylinders are on the left!

It is a RWD car, but under bonnet a LWD!
So, yes it is a con!

It is also a MKIII body but the under bonet shot is clearly a MKI/II

I'd noticed that too, it would be worth a lot more as the very duel control Sprite. Can it be reported to some kind of authority?

Underbonnet shot is obviously a Frogeye with, as already noted, early style pedal box on the wrong side, and non-1275 engine with H1 carbs.

Fairly basic error.

I can't make out the details on the Heritage certificate, unfortunately.

I remember this one... Like 3 years ago...someone here spoted it a very prestigous renouned car show...i dont know the name of the show and the furom member wanted to purchase it...and it was obsene crazy money they wanted... I remember we talked about for awhile and concluded they conned there way into the event

Without doing the language conversion...my guess the owner was suckered into it and now playing dumb as to the truth and getting out of a mistake
