MG Midget and Sprite General - I am a happy man again
After what must be 18 months or even more I rolled Blackie out of the garage to try and start him up. I have no brakes - awaiting delivery of new calipers - and no tax, insurance or MOT. The battery was left alone so I charged it last night, borrowed my neighbours jump leads and got the MIL's Vauxhall Agila parked nearby for a jump. Tried for a few goes and I thought Blackie would never go when suddenly he was off and purring. Talk about happy - I am smiling still. The children - Harry 3 and Amy 5 - were running around him asking for a ride - no luck there - but I really feel my little Midget is alive once more. I painted the rest of the garage floor - where Blackie was - so he is still outside, and will be all night - and I have sat in him and started him up a couple of times. Its days like this - sunny, warm, car starts, end of term and off for 3 weeks ( I'm a teacher) that I realise what life is all about - moments of childlike joy that make it all worth while. For those stuck in a garage with heaps of repairs ahead of them - and I am one - the end is really worth it - today was a great day. Dave - smiling - Price

yep: been out in mine tonight and all those endless days [years?] of an up-side-down body shell are now seen to be worthwhile!

I do know the joy but won't feel it for a while because I'm one of those whose "stuck in the garage with a few repairs ahead of them"

Looking good Greg, that's an incredibly thin steering wheel you've fitted though! LOL
