MG Midget and Sprite General - How much carpet
| Will 2 yards do a '72 Midget or should I get 3 I want some extra for just in case. |

| Is there any particualar reason why you're not buying the kit? I bought the kit from the UK (I live in South Africa)and put it in myself. If I remember it cost about $150 and took me less than a day removing seats old carpet, tidying up, replacing and seats back in. If I get the image attachment correct this is the half way stage.

| Have you tried ebay? I bought a carelli set for around £90 including delivery recently and it is surprisingly good quality, better than most modern cars. You still have to trim it down to size. 8-9 metres sq should do it, 10 just in case.

| 10 sq. m seems a lot ? |

| Just picked up this advice from the old PDLJMPR website. I thought that had died years ago! http://pdljmpr.tripod.com/techin.htm#Carpets Frank Clarici says that 4 yds is enough to re-carpet a Frog. I guess it depends on whether you plan to carpet the boot as well. Guy |

| 10 sq metres is alot. About 4x larger than the car itself... Unless you are incredibly wasteful please ignore. |

| Well that link I posted 2 days ago was to instructions on carpet fitting by Frank Clarici. Just one of his many, many contributions of Spridgets. You will see from another thread that sadly, Frank died just yesterday. He will be sorely missed by many. |

| Guy, That's what Frank, Tony Barnhill and soooo many have left us. I had never seen the above site and having met Frank was impressed with the link you shared. I know Frank is still driving it like he stole it!! Phil |

| Phil, The PDLJMPR was a very active site during the '90s, and through to around 2004. Some of the pages seem to have disappeared but there is lots of information there still, and a fair bit of stuff from Frank. Frank was absolute speed-king when it came to restorations. He reckoned he could do a full strip down, renovation, repaint and rebuild of a Spridget in 6 weeks. And that was in his spare time from his Joinery business and his great pride and commitment to his wife and children! Somewhere I have a text from him about how to achieve this, to organise the time and work sequence and maintain motivation! The key message was to do something on the project, however unexciting, every single day. It was good advice - if only I could keep to it! |
