MG Midget and Sprite General - Greek Spridgets

I was thinking in a moment of reflection about the greek economy. I've been to Greece a few times but I've never seen a Spidget there or any of the other mediteranian countries. So I was wondering, apart from BG in Barcelona, has anyone else come across Spridgets in unexpected places?

I was in Manila Philippines, and came across a local collector who had a midget, a cooper S and an e type, amongst his collection of mostly american 50's cars.

I found a trashed 61 Sprite in Fort Good Hope, Northwest Territories, Canada. That is about 30 km below the Arctic Circle. There is only a winter road into that Community. Apparently the car was driven there in the early 1970's. I took the doors as they were solid but dented and some other parts. The shell itself is good I just could not get it moved to where it could be shipped out.

About 30 years ago we sailed around Meganitsi ?
a Greek island not far from Levkas, a local 'big cheese' a bar/cafe owner etc had the island taxi - old merc and his red beatup MG Midget - think it was a mk2 - one headlight missing and no hood (why would you need one ?).

There's a Frogeye in a museum in Qawra, Malta...

...and a Midget. Didn't see any on the road, though.

Ha ha, not exactly concours state that midget. Not what one would expect in a museum.

I did see a lovely tartan red MK2 zipping around Singapore city centre but it was out of sight before I could get the camera out!!

We went to Qawra, Malta this spring - lots of MG's on the road.

If you go to the parking at the point of the peninsula the city of Qawra sundays before noon, you will meet lots of kind folks driving many different types of oldtimers - and many MG's
Ole Aaen

Now, I know it isn't an MG, but here are a couple of pictures from the streets of Malta

Ole Aaen

Visit the car club of Malta.

Ole Aaen

Ah, I found a 1300 in Cyprus too !
And there was at least one more inside...

If you are lucky enough to visit the Greek island of Kefalonia, (the roads are excellent - all the empty hairpins you can handle) get to Steki's restaurant/bar in Ag.Efimia.

Here's the owner Lou outside Steki's with his 1500, with its LOVELY seat covers.

Did Lou ever join MASC, Gary? I sent him a form!

Andy (sadly can't afford to go back now)

In Malta they don't drive on the left nor the right, they stick to the shade.

Must admit I didn't spot this Midget in Kefalonia when I was there, We stayed in Sami where they filmed Captin Corelli. Had a drink in Capt Corelli's bar every night, however it couldn't have been the original as most buidings were distroyed in 1953.

I don't think he joined, but have to agree with you on the roads, they are great and empty as you mention. However when they say suitable only for 4x4s, you'd better believe them. Fisgardo was my favourite place though myrtos beach looked much better from half a mile away than up close (bit like my car really).
Gary & Gaps

If you put a (low)bid in to buy Greece you will get any Spridgets there for free.
