MG Midget and Sprite General - Frogeye repair panels....
I must be loosing my mind.... I know somewhere on the web I have seen a company (in the UK I'm sure) that make some interesting 'repair panels' for the Mk1 Sprite. I need a bonnet hinge mounting panel (which is different to the later cars) plus some front wing front lower repair sections. I thought it was perhaps Archers Garage, but I can't find their online catalogue or Wheeler & Davies but can't find a website for them. Can anyone help please. I have Roger Gaunt over here who makes some fantastic pieces, but he doesn't do these bits that I am looking for. Cheers, Mark.

hi Mark try www.sebringsprite.com Martin Ingall's Sebring Sprite website. It has links to Archers Garage now run by Andrew Forster since Brian Archers death and also a link to Brian Wheeler @ Wheeler & Davies. You might also try BMHT who, I believe, now produce a frogeye tub used on the new Tifosi Rana Sebring Sprite. Alan

Wheeler & Davies contact details... http://sebringsprite.com/bodyshell.html Maybe Ashley Hinton does the parts you require? http://www.mgcars.org.uk/ah/

Mark, Looking for this http://sebringsprite.com/bodyshell.html I met Brian Wheeler once when he showed up at Wroughton Autotest, run by the late John Mead, and he was driving a Dolomite Sprint engined frogeye. I don't think the power bulge suited the car and I expect it didn't handle well due to the engine weight. Having seen other work by Brian he does very good work, hopefully he's still around.

Thanks guys.. I had not thought of Ashley Hinton so have emailed him (I think as I got an 'error' message when I sent it... :-( I have tried all the other links with no avail... I'm sure the Archers site was a lot more comprehensive last time I looked and Wheeler & Davies don't seem to have a website.. :-( Cheers, Mark.

Mark, I can't remember ever seeing a Wheeler & Davies website but IIRC you could get a price list off them, I think a mate did. They may be one of those companies that still operate in a pre-internet age.

Brian Wheeler makes the hinge panel, Part No.110/14 but you may have to try the other suggested outlets for the repair panels. Andrew at Archers is a good link.
