MG Midget and Sprite General - Feet and skirts!
| OK - to all of you with "disinterested girlfriends" I am keen to undertake a survey with regards to smaller feet than my boats! Whilst obviously I am able to get in and out of MGAs and even MGBs, and, even a standard Midget - but, with the MGF seats fitted, I do find that tiny little gap between the front of the seat and the door too small to fit my feet through in such a manner that would make it possible to wear a skirt .......! So - I know that many of your have the seats fitted, and, Arie - this is the ideal excuse for you to take out any girls in Holland that you haven't already dated and scared to death ....... What size feet make it possible? |

| my wife is going to put a skirt on and try it, she hasn't got many so I'm letting her borrow one of mine for the purpose of the exercise, as long as she doesn't try to zip it up ETA: just above knee lenght skirt, sit on seat first and swing legs - size 4 feet about 18 body! |

| When our racer was a road going Midget and fitted with MX5 seats I could get in (in a ladylike fashion) wearing a knee length skirt. I have size 6 1/2 feet. That said, while I'm quite tall at 5'7" I'm only a size 8 dress size. But then you knew that Rach! :) |

| Rachael, I asked my good friend's wife about getting into and out of a Midget at our club meeting last night. She's a fairly petite woman and said that in her opinion even with stock seats there's no way a lady in a skirt can exit a Midget in a modest way. She suggested just getting some very nice underwear as someone will be seeing it. ;-) I wonder what our friends up in Scotland would say, the men there have a similar problem in their kilts, or do they just not care about such matters? |

| LMAO James - that would be an option - I can get a gorilla suit too :P Bill - thank you :) At least I can have backing in my theory that I do not need to wear a skirt when in a Midget - or that I need to have some new undies - shopping trip I think ... :)!!!! As for kilts - well, they are kinda made a different way - and weigh alot more than a silk skirt ;) At least the BGT is easier for work ..........! and the horses don't care!!!!! |

Colour and type of underwear is not an issue when wearing a kilt, allegedly, they are all commandoes (or special forces or something).... The sight of one of those getting out of a Midget would cause an immediate surrender of the bad guys as the secret weapon became apparent. |

| In the interests of research, and as I am still in work gear - which involves skirt, and heels, I have just tried. 5'10, size 6 feet. It cannot be done with any decorum, and in my case, would have ended very badly if the garage wall hadn't been there to save me. Am seriously considering a suicide door conversion... |

| I did have a thoughtful moment about Wrigglys seats, but they are Sebring, and I don't think they'd look right - especially not with the paint job/interior I have in mind!! |

| Wheel (have only done one!) is back in the garage and has just had a third coat of primer. Have nearly got the black marks off the bath now... Lack of axle stands is making it a "one wheel at a time" project. Also a bit worried about having it in the air too long when I don't know how rotten it is yet!! |

| Hmmmm 3 coats of primer - weren't you meant to be lightening it?:p There's always the drastic way to find out - see what happens! Have you got access to the little ramp things? They are also very handy for sill replacement purposes (as I think you saw in my photos?!) |

| Whwn I say "coats" - I mean dustings!! I have learned through bitter experience that less is more when it comes to spraying! I should be able to get hold of some ramps - not much help with wheels off though!! |

| Don't know what the fuss is all about, really. Tight mid thigh length leather mini with 3 inch rear split, 5 inch heels in size 7, no problem every saturday night :P |

| LOL - looks like I misjudged the Midget driving community, and that I should have asked for comments off the men - I never knew how much cross-dressing that goes on :P!!!! I do hope that your choke cable is a locking one Nigel if you're using pegs for clothes ;)! |

| Choke cable is new so both clothes pegs can be used on wife's skirts when I wear them and i have to twist the peg to get a good fit on me :) with size 4 (or 4and a half) my wife is almost a weeble |

| I'm hoping to have them all finished over the next month Rach, but thank you for the offer. Am employing a 5 day approach- Day 1 - clean, sand and fill. Day 2 - Primer Day 3 - primer am, flat and 3 thin coats of silver pm. Day 4, Ditto black bits. Day 5 flat and lacquer. This is the plan - which may or may not actually happen! |

| LOL Nigel - not sure what to say - is there not an owners guide?!?!?!?!?!!!!!! Good oh Ally - you'll likely get your hands on some nearer should you need them anyway - but - it's always there if you want it :) Just not sure that parents and friends are going to be available to bully ;) |

| Ally, You might want to consider running some filler (metal, not powder base) around the seam between the rim dish and the centre pressing of the wheels. Just enough, smoothed off by running your finger around it, to fill that open seam. I did that with my Rostyles and it looked neat and the paint finish lasted much better without that exposed cavity showing. Not sure what this has to do with feet'n skirts? Guy |

| Guy - if horses can have shoes more frequently and costing more than I ever can - the tyres are feet and wheels skirts!!! Matt - I could suggest that Nigels Haynes manual to women might possibly suggest that car grease is fine for outside, but you want posh smelly stuff inside :p however, I'm also reliably informed that greasing any nipples might stop play of radio tuning methods! |
