MG Midget and Sprite General - Engine crane loan, West Midlands?
Hi all, apologies for the cheeky request but does anyone have a folding engine crane/hoist that they would be prepared to loan me in exchange for some beer tokens or an extra pair of hands on one of your spridgety jobs? I need to remove it due to the gearbox making some not very pleasant noises and I will be sending it off to be reconditioned. (I haven't phoned them yet so I'm not sure how long they will need to have it for. I live in Walsall and would be looking to fit it into the boot of a Honda Civic. Thanks Mark

If you are using Ken Evans to rebuild then he's usually pretty quick, around a week depending on workload, could be less.

Hi David, I will be looking to use Klassic Transmissions (I think thats Ken Evans?) Thanks for the heads up on the turn around time. Mark

Once your 'box has been in Ken's hands you'll not look back! Proper job and a real gent to boot! He used to build boxes for MGOC [which sold them on at silly money] Ken completed mine in under a week for £250. His workshop is down a long farm lane: don't be put off just keep going to the end and you'll find his magic workshop tucked away!

| HI Mark, I've got a folding crane you can borrow, Its a bit big for a civic though, a van or trailer would be better. You are welcome to borrow it though, John

John Would you loan out that 3 bar gas fire I can see in the background as mine is bu@@ered..Lol Mark I also have a hoist you can borrow, I am Kingswinford Dy6, so who ever is nearest for you, but as John said you will not get it in a car, maybe an estate might do it. In my younger days I used a block and tackle, just a thought as thats probably the only lifting gear you will get in a car.

Hi both, thanks for your kind offers. Use of a van or trailer would be tricky but my sister in law does have a Toyota Avensis estate (this would be the largest vehicle available). Do you think that it would fit? Approx size of loadspace: Length - 1.8m Width - 1m Height - 0.8m Thanks Mark

Ok Mark the lenth is 1.5m so you should be ok, you might need some card so not to damage your sisters car, my email is rob at cornish connection pasty dot co dot uk

Hi Rob, have sent you an email. John, many thanks for the offer but Rob is that little bit closer. Thanks Mark
