Great photos. It looks like a great day despite a bit of rain. We're looking forward to our Midget 50 next month. Who's got an extra one of those pink placards they'd be willing to send over here. I'd love to show up at our meet with one of those hanging from the front.

I've got or can get one for you - it'd be an honour - so long as we hhave pictures! Thanks Barry was nice to meet you and I know you did a roaring trade in wishbones!!!! Final numbers aren't available just now as we had so many sold on the gate we ran out! However a huge contribution to Air Ambulance will be on it's way :) Yes, the weather turned really bad but it didn't seem to dampen it too much - although I suspect cars and clothes will be drying out awhile this week. Thanks to all those who made it a memorable day :). Sorry to all I didn't get much time to talk to - but it was lovely to meet you and hopefully will have another time, Bill - email me your address to Rachel-macbathotmail.co.uk

From our hotel in stamford i can say we had a good day but a shame for the rain! Alex will agree since he ditched his very wet tent for a last minute room here....
Onno Könemann
Only 1 complaint the Price of Food and Drink I think £11 was a bit much for 2 coffee's and 2 Sausage Sandwiches. I know this had nothing to do with Midget 50 and was Burghley Hse, but even so a rip off...
K Harris
congratulations to organisers brickbats to the rain-gods boy, was it wet on the way home! ... and of course the wipers failed... the deep joy of Midget ownership!
David Cox
| we had a great day, thanks to everyone who put all that effort in, from the planning, sorting, parking and smiling, well done everyone, it was all well worth it. let's hope we're all around for the 75th. | Thanks to all the organisers for their hard work. I had a really good day despite the weather. A great run to the event but the drive back was a nightmare - torrential rain and a clutch that only allowed starts in 2nd gear (sorted this morning - that pasky 7.5 inch rally clutch!). Cheers Chris |

A real shame about the weather but a great day nonetheless! Well done to all the organisers and volunteers who put in a lot of hard work. I saw a lot of familiar cars from here but didn't get the chance to spot many of their owners. Photos to follow in due course. Highlight of the day? Probably doing a cautious 70 on the spray sodden A1 southbound after the event to be overtaken at speed by the Jacobs coupe who fairly had the pedal down gven the conditions!

Reading the comments and seeing the pictures makes me even more excited about our Midget 50th! While we will probably have slightly less then 800 cars, our enthusiasm will be just as high! Now, I'd better get my maps out and start planning!! Cheers, Jack

Splendid pics, and thanks for posting links! Burghley's an impressive old pile, isn't it? Wow... -:G:-
Gryf Ketcherside

| Finaly home! As said had a great day tough it was a bit wet... Had a great dinner, had great company (you know who you are) But the true great thing has happend today...... Wouda (girlfriend) and me went to visit Cambridge. Where on a nice spot behind Trinity at the river I proposed to her and she off coure said Yes!! So after this great weekend I am the most happy man on earth! Now who else made this picture.....

Many thanks to all organisers and those behind the scenes, It was a great day and it was really good to meet so many like minded people. I chatted to many who I already knew and actually met a lot more from the BBS. (Now I've actually met Arie - so I now feel that I need to meet prop to complete the set!) Onno - good to meet you as well and congratulations on the news! Yes there was the rain, but that only dampened the physical not the spirits of the event. However I did feel like I was driving home in a submarine as my car was filling up with water - at one stage the water was halfway up the level of the crossmember which is in front of the seat - of course this then soaked into the seat foam which then soaked into me! as well as the usual wet knees from the under dash leaks - so the car is now drying out but its a bit smelly. I think I'll need to remove all carpets and seats when I get a few spare minutes. Thanks again. John
John Collins
Congrats Onno! Saw your car but not you, but the same goes for a few on here, easier to recognise cars than people :)
Rob Armstrong
Onno, Congratulations, its a fantastic feeling. I managed to covertly slide a ring onto Kerry recently as well. Was great to meet so many people, and yet, I didnt get to meet a quarter of those I wanted too.
PeterJMoore
Onno congratulations mate I never did get a chance for a chat, sorry.
Bill 1
Well you kept that one quiet Onno - but I'm so pleased for you both!!! Congratulations and love to you both, and it was nice too ;) Glad you had a lovely day in Cambridge and that's almost better news than "our" D being royal :p

Congratulations ..Onno & Wouda....amazing what British rain can do for you!! Pete, good write up on the blog, it was the day that never ended for you guys.....good fun to finally meet and have chat with you guys. I am chuffed with my result; second to Will in that beast of a car of his, is no disgrace for me.Pity I couldn't stay to the bitter end and have a a go in Will's car, it was good of him to offer, not many people do that. Cheers Ian |
Ian Webb '73 GAN5
Ian, thanks for arranging breakfast I'm always up for swaping driving seats with sensible people especially if it's the same make and model I drove a friend's 4.5 V8 TVR Cerbra the other week and his wife's TVR V8S which I prefered as I used to have one
N Atkins
Great news, Onno! Very best wishes to you and Wouda. -:G:-
Gryf Ketcherside
Thank you all from me and Wouda! Wouda was as amazed as some of you are (finaly something I had been able to keep a secret) But very happy to say Yes She still has not stoped smiling ;)
Onno Könemann
"She still has not stoped smiling ;)" Just wait :P One pile of dirty dishes you "forgot" to clean whilst rushing to the gaage to work on the Midget and it'll be back to normal. However, I must ask, whats the ring like :P
PeterJMoore
LOL - coming from the man who disappeared for a weekend .... haven't you got some dishes to wash :P!!!!!

| Congartulations Onno and Wouda! Here is Sarah & my combined photo set from our Midget 50 trip: http://www.flickr.com/photos/79267312@N00/sets/72157626829336665/ Does anyone recognise these frogs? 7678 AC & YON 59 - we passed them on the A1 on Monday northbound, and Sarah got some good pictures which the owners might like copies of:

Congrates Onno!!!!!! Will you guys getting married in your prewar MG? ;)
Arie de Best
Tim & Sarah, That's a really nice set of photographs. Really captures the day. And waiting until Monday to travel north again was most definitely a good decision! And congratulations Onno and Wouda. That's certainly one way of ensuring that you won't ever forget the Burghley event! Never actually met you, but my very best wishes all the same. Guy
Guy
LOL Guy - yes you did - when we were walking down the hill to see my car - it was with a selection of mad Dutch!
rachmacb
Well Rach, you never introduced them! - or just possibly you did, but I am deaf, in which case my apologies for ignoring all concerned!
Guy
LOL - I can't honestly remember - I'm doing well to remember meeting any of you!!!!!! By the way - since you won the orange hat and disappeared before I could give you it ......??????
rachmacb
| Did I enjoy the day ? Yes !!!!!! A big thank you for everybody who spend so many of their free time to organise such a wonderfull event again. Had a superb weekend that started on saterday in East Kirby where the lincolnshire centre held the autosolo. Then sunday seeïng so many Spridgets in such a beautifull scenery and bought some very nice parts, some in a rush so hopefully the correct ones. And due to the rain at least I bought a proper M.G. umbrella wich will stay in the car for when it rains when we are celebrating Sprite mk111/Midget Mk11 50 ..... And of course: CONGRATULATIONS ONNO AND WOUDA !!! Like arie said will the D type be your weddingcar? Pascal
|

pjw Seezink
Nice pic Pascal! Shame the bonnet just poped open on a bump (that is what the strap is for) Sorry to say that if the D has to be the weddingcar it might be a long engagement ;) Though the chance of a pre-war MG as a weddingcar is rather big not sure about the type yet so many to chose from.......
Onno Könemann
Pascal, Great photos, and was great to meet you. Have you put all your photos online yet? Pete
PeterJMoore
I can recommend the SA, Onno, if you can borrow one - big enough for the bride's dress, dry if it rains, you can have a sneaky drink in the back, and its very good looking: http://www.flickr.com/photos/79267312@N00/sets/72157602415443445/

Wow, looks like you guys had an amazing time, makes me jealous that we don't have anything similar over here! Congrats to Onno! I'm recently married myself, though unfortunately our Midget wasn't quite ready in time - had to make do with my fathers MGA instead.
