MG Midget and Sprite General - Collect, package & deliver courier service
Can anyone recommend a courier service that is prepared to collect, package and deliver goods? The sort of service that would be useful where eBay sellers specify collection only. The price goods go for on eBay is often lower where collection only is specified, I assume due to less competion because fewer bidders are prepared to travel to collect. An example recently saw 2 pairs of seats which were of interest to me go for less than £30 each because they specified collection. I stayed out of the bidding because they were both too far away. Then today similar seats went for 3 times that price partly because they were more accessible & offered delivery. As a result I was outbid.

Our own 'network' of BBS users have, and I think still do use each other for couriering parts around the country.. I know I've carried many parts for many people in the UK... After saying that.. I STILL have a small machine in Somerset that needs to find it's way to York... :-) Mark.

Well I'm happy to do Bracknell to Nottingham or vice versa couple of times a year as long as there is no rush.

Thanks PR... Anyone travelling between North Somerset and Bracknell...? If I can get it as far as Nottingham, (Ian Cook..?), I should be able to get it from there to York... :-) Mark. Oh, It's an old Churchill Hydroelastic Pump

I will be in Devon over Christmas - if you still need it collected, I'd be happy to get it as far as Bracknell. Whereabouts in North Somerset is it - and what sort of size is it? ie; Will it fit in an MGF with driver, passenger and associated luggage?

Its taken a year to travel from Taunton to just south of Bristol. At that rate, it could take a good while to make it to Australia! (or even York). The BBS voluntary courier service has worked really well in the past, but some items just seem to get stuck! Ally, its not too large for a hatchback, or even a Midget passenger seat, but I don't think you would fit it in your laden MGF.

| Guy, Time travel is not all its cracked up to be ! I only offered sanctuary to the Dalek - to keep it out of the rain, not fix its intergaltic transport system ! Seriously if anybody can assist Mark to get it to York please shout - I'm still trying a further avenue, but currently I dont have plans going North. Its a bit big for a midget passenger seat - unless removed. 760mm highx400x300 approx - the legs do not want to come off without possible damage - so i've left them alone. The exterminators can be unscrewed for transport. Pic of it today taking the morning air before retiring to hibernate in the greenhouse. R.

If my passenger decides against the trip - I can probably manage it. I've had a cross trainer in it with the passenger seat in, and a dishwasher with the seat removed (which is the work of minutes now - I've had it in and out that many times...) Why did I buy ANOTHER two seater? Who really needs two??
Ally
Richard, I was assuming the legs could be easily removed for transport. The previous foster parent still asks fondly after the Dalek
Guy
I might be able to fit it in, if I get a trip down that way.

Another thought. I've used Shiply (www.shiply.com) to get stuff moved around the country. You put in the details of what you want moved, from where to where - and people with space on their vans/trucks bid for the job. I had two MGF seats brought down from Newcastle to Berkshire for £20
Ally
Dave, I'd appreciate that if possible (I think Richard would too... :-( ). If it can be got as far as Nottingham, I think I can get it to York from there or even Worcester... Richard, thanks for the picture, I think it the first I've seen of it...! Cheers, Mark.

I'll be travelling to Nottingham from Bracknell for Christmas (weather permitting) & again at the end of March. Christmas will be a squeeze, March I could probably do. Back on thread Shipley looks interesting... Regards Paul

Mark/Richard, I can take it all the way to York on the weekend of 3/4 Dec. I'm going up to collect some windows. I would also get to have a look at your car Richard! Glyn

Richard, What the name of the pub in the middle of nowhere? I think it was called the Blue Flame. It was like sitting in someone's front room. Friendly bunch...
