MG Midget and Sprite General - Cleaning
What do you use to clean the suspension and underbody to remove all the dirt and grime from winter driving? Les

Les, I used to use a hot water pressure washer... If you dont have one available, just plenty of water from a hose pipe. Mark.

Hi Mark Its mainly the oily geasy stuff I want to get off, cleanig around the stub axles etc. Using white spirit at the mo, stinks abit though! Tell you something, I am not going out on salted roads again- what a mess they make. Les

for greasy muck I'd use paraffin, same as I use for cleaning engines, gearboxes and everything else that's oily and dirty. Problem is that my local garage did away with their bulk tank last year, I bought 40 litres just before they ran out, but nobody else sells it from a pump any more. There's a bulk supplier in Slough but it's a 200l drum which my son says would be too much 'at my age'; I hare to think what he means! DIY places sell 5l at extortionate prices...

Most available de-greasers are Biodegradable these days and Enviromentily 'friendly'... Jizer or Gunk were well known names which brush on and wash off with water (best under pressure). Dirty work.... Mark.

exactly Mark, ideal but the sort of operation that most home workshops simply don't have the space (or drainage) for. Paraffin and a brush, draining onto a couple of old mats or bits of carpet can be contained in a confined space, even done inside the garage. It takes a lot longer though.
