MG Midget and Sprite General - Can you identify this car?
| Hi A friend spotted this car in near-by collapsing garage. Can anyone tell what it is? Thx A

The back looks like a Rover, especially with the lead (like) window strip. Perhaps a Vauxhall. The bonnet looks French for some reason. No help at all am I.
Gary Lazarus
it's a Rover P4 75 Cyclops.

thats so sad thats it rotting away. one of my favourite cars.

The boot and the back window doesn't look right to be that Rover? Steve
Steve Hipkiss
Anthony, ask your friend to go back and get some clearer photos. You're making the task too hard!!!

Did later P4s go to a larger rear window? I'm with Roy; that car, whatever it is, needs some love, and a proper resto. -:G:-

Yes the very early 75's had a single section rear window and then changed to the 3 section leaded one in the at the very end of production. The 75 went through a number of changes from the 1949 cyclops to the more traditional dual headlight version in 1952 when the centre light was removed and the rear window was enlarged. The window change was fitted to some models before the removal of the centre light. From 1954 to 1959 it was called the P4 75 Mk 2. It still makes me laugh when I go into a parts supplier for brake pads or plugs for a 75 and I say its a mark 2 six cylinder. They scratch their heads for a while until I tell them its a 1955. I was once told by a guy in a Rover dealership that there was no such car ever made by Rover!! (he was a spotty teenager though)

Agreed earlyish P4, but it could be a 90 or even a 110? Father has two.
robnrrugby
front wings are wrong for a 110 105 or 90. I thinks its a 56 75 mk2. If the car is in Colwell I know it. There is a guy who runs an old school type garage there who farmed out quit a few 75's 90's and a beautiful 110 to various farmers barns for storage

Ya got it, Anthony. That's a nice-looking old Auntie Rover for sure. Funny though, in that one tail-on shot, the bootlid looks rough as a cob. Hmm... -:G:-

That is one nice looking set of wheels. I would love to have it and eliminate all the rust bubble problem now before it gets too far gone. The interior is comfortable looking and with a refurb it will last for many years. Sandy
