MG Midget and Sprite General - Bumpers-are-go!

sorry every one.. but just gotta stand up for the other side!

You know, either way you do it, these cars are beautiful. Mine will actually be put back to original as soon as I find a straight bumper. It was slightly tweaked on the right side since a collision with a phesant or goose in 1966. A year or so ago, I just got tired of looking at it. Here's how it looks with bumper on. The wrinkles are between the number plate and over rider.

I would love not to have those awful lumps of rubber coated steel ballast fastened to the front and rear so they're going...
if these nice steel bumpers were more plentyful (or cheaper!!) then i think i would have a go converting mine to chromies!!!

John..

mine doesnt have bumpers 'cos there were none with her when I rescued her

If there had been I would have fitted them

I prefer the look even though I like her without

I love those fat bumpers... that is just the cooliest look

esp. with the bonnet spear, and the 69 slate chrome grill

Id love to split a rear fat bumper to look like the skinny split rear bumper

these 2 threads have become a real dilemma.

I like the look of both with and without bumpers.

My 64 midget has full bumpers,

I also fitted bumpers to my 74 rwa k-series car as I wanted it to look standard-ish

(for both cars view vehicle profile)

However, i do love the look of a midget with no bumpers, is it just me or do they look like a "baby cobra/baby healey" with no bumpers

Talking of babies John ... Any news or are you chewing nails for this week?

I like my bumpers - they add some character and look like a midget which is what I want!

Hey Prop. I've never seen that done, but I bet it would look good and thinking about it not so hard to do. Yoy could use the nuber plate lamps from the later slim bumpers.Having said that I do like mine without any bumpers.

Wow! great looking car John. Love the "Old Speckled Hen" badge too. What colour is that? It looks very rich. Deeper than I remember. Beautiful.

Hey bernie,

I havent seen it done ither, but ive kicked the idea around for awhile, I think you might have to have something like this done by a pro thats alot of welding and heavy gauge metal bending to make it look good

If I did make them Id make 2 sets, cause sure as you got them installed .... WHAM!!! youd get rearended,
