MG Midget and Sprite General - Biggest Number of Repairs!?
Evening all, It has taken a while but I have almost got the passenger side floorpan off the car in order to fit the new one. Whilst I was out in the garage I was wondering how many times it is possible to bodge a repair in the same place? So... I will start the ball rolling with my 4 floor pans! (the original, a repair on the bottom, the top and patch repairs to the repair on the bottom) and my 3 rear wings. Someone must be able to top this, come on people, what are your worst finds? (or are you all sensible people that buy 'good' cars?) Cheers! Malcolm

Malcolm - every time I read one of your posts - whilst my sympathies are with you - I am relieved that mine isn't as bad .....!!!! I thought 3 welds around the front end of the floorpan join with the sill was bad enough, but that was only about 10cms long! As for the buying "good" cars - yes, I know I keep saying go for the bodywork as the engine is easy, but, being realistic, these cars are ANCIENT, and have been driven originally in all weathers, on all roads, with salt and grime on the road - it's only recently that people have taken to "Sunday afternoon picnic driving" in them - so, no, there are some ruddy horrors, even in the best looking cars ;) Do what I do and keep telling yourself that at least it'll be good when it's done :)

thanks rach, I am clinging on to the thought of: "Do what I do and keep telling yourself that at least it'll be good when it's done :)" Ahhh... one day... Malcolm

had the dreaded oversills on my midget. Landy chassis now seems to be made almost entirely of patches and the mini I got for my sister for 150 quid had 2 oversills, no drain holes in either of them with the middle one stuck on with some sort of sealant/glue....
