MG Midget and Sprite General - Anyone know this Frogeye?
A friend in our village has just bought this Frogeye, registration OFX 946, from ebay. Anyone have any idea of the history of the car?

No I only have the email address and name of the guy who sold it on ebay as he gave me permission to add an image to the photographic database ok UK registered Mk1 Sprites. However if you want to eamil me the vin number, I can check to see if it appears on the international Mk1 Sprite database which where cars are logged by vin number. gary frog eye at g mail dot com

A bit of further info - The car is supposed to have been raced in hillclimbs in the 90's by a Paul O'Leary from the Midlands. The chassis no. is 'homebrewed' (CHJ/1/C) and the body number looks like it ends 2883 could start 8A? Car is down as first registered in Nov 1979.

FX is a Devon registration code, I think. If DVLA say it was first registered in 1979 it was either re-registered at that date with an age-related plate, or that is the original registration from new and the 1979 date refers to when the old County records were centralised and transferred to the DVLA

I came across website a while ago when looking for registration data. It contains a massive amount of information, and is really worth sticking a bookmark on: http://www.oldclassiccar.co.uk/registrations/reg-letters.htm It indicates that the car was registered in Dorest between october '59 and May '60, which sounds right for an original registration? |

Thanks Mark, I have seen a number of these indexes, but that one is very much more detailed than I have seen before.
