MG Midget and Sprite General - anyone else got odd front wings
| the front wings on midget and sprite were changed not sure if it was to accommodate the metal bumpers better but one side/turn signal hole is lower than the other just wondered how many other cars have both as mine has and sorry if i just pointed it out to u got on my nerves two and which is the actual later wing or to be helpful to me should it be a high or low side/turn signal on a mark 3 sprite. |

| Early wings have the hole much closer to the headlight than the later wings. Unfortunately early wings were never reproduced as far as I am aware and as such all replacement panels were tooled to suit the later car due to demand. |

| My MK2 Sprite has the early one on the passenger side and the later on the drivers (USA spec car). Keeping my eyes peeled for a drivers side correct fender here - my parts car has it but it's rusty, might be worth repairing though if I can't find a better one. |

| Peter, Moss seem to list all the different wings now - expensive though! R. |

| The superb Sprite seen below belongs to one of our local Spridgeteers, Bruce Hamper. He didn't notice until his restoration was well over with that the front wings didn't match. We'd all gotten together for Spridget 50 here in Missouri, somebody noticed his wings and commented on them, and it was news to him. Ironic, really, because Bruce is a demon for details, and his car is a seriously nice piece of work. -:G:-

| Kind of makes one want to scream "aw s*#t!", especially when it's discovered after the fact! |

| Not at all uncommon. MGBs suffer from a similar affliction, as the gap between the sidelight and the grill was reduced in the late '60s. Here's an example...

| On page 86 of Terry Horler's "Original Sprite and Midget" there is a picture of a lovely mk4 Sprite described as "Clive Wagstaff's Mineral blue mk IV (HAN9). Only the quaterlight mirror is non original." Oops! Odd wings. Terry was apparently bombarded by people pointing this out. Bernie. |

| There are lots of Spridgets out there with 'odd' wings... just look at yours... :-) Did you see something you'd never noticed before...? They changed in late '68 I believe, when the Midget started loosing it's chrome trims. It was of course to fit in with the introduction of the narrow bumper'd cars from Oct 1969. Mark. |
