MG Midget and Sprite General - Any source for silicone hoses?

Everything is disconnected, and tommorow my motor comes out.
I need to replace the lower tube to pump hose.
I'd like to do a whole set in Blue silicone.
Is there a quick source for these anywhere, on either side of the pond?
Thanks Phil

Try Daniel Thirteen Twelve....

He'll be along shortly I'm sure.

I got my (black) silicone hoses from below (UK)

Very friendly and helpful

They do different colours and thickness - how quick I don't know but worth an email at least

Does anyone want to tell an idiot like mewhy I should get silicone hoses when I next need some? Is it just because they're a lot easier to get on and off or what?

Because they last for ever (well longer than rubber)
Most new rubber top hoses start showing cracks within a year.

My black silicone hoses are looking as good as new after 1,5 year (thanks Daniel!)
Now i need a set for the GT (and preferably at less then the above link)

They also seal better. Being more flexible than rubber, the clips provide a good seal without having to be tightened up so much, compared to the thicker-walled rubber hoses. I got mine from Daniel too. Good value!

Like many parts we are offered now, the rubber based hoses are very poor quality compared with how they used to be. Once upon a time they were good for almost the life of the car. Not any longer.

£2800 for a set of MGB hoses apparently... Probably easier just to buy a new car for that! I wonder if anyone has pointed out to them the typo (I would assume its a typo!) or if they are just sat in their office thinking "why dont we sell many MGB kits?" ha ha

It can take a while to get a set of silicone hoses made and I only have a couple of odd hoses in stock (but a full set of orange for the downflow rad car!).

No-one need buy a complete set of hoses you can have one at a time. I think all the Spridget silicone hoses in the USA came from me.

I'm guaranteed to be cheaper than anyone else as I make pence out of my hoses rather than pounds because I'm not in business! Of course you might get a re-used jiffy bag so can make a bit on my p&p. I prefer to send recorded/international signed for but it's your choice what you want to pay for and small packet surface will be cheapest.

There are books with this stuff in so I guess you need to buy a book as well.

daniel,
Do you have a lower tube to pump hose like the one in your picture? Blue?
If so how much with expidited shipping to 33469 in the US?

Thanks, Phil

Phil

here is an idea... cost about 50 cents in all..

what about a small length piece of heater hose covered in blue heat shrink electrical tape... I doulbt anyone would ever know the differance.. and should work just fine ... definatly better then the little accordian hose...

In fact ... just get the accordian hose and slip that into some blue heat shrink... that would work well to, and only cost you 25 cents ..Plus the heat srink would actually reinforce the accordian hose, so thats even better. Provided you have the accordian hose in a kit already

Prop

Opps sorry Phil

I thought you meant the accordian hose from the bottom front of the head to the top of the water pump... sorry about that

Im just off a bit i my focas today.

I will NEVER use that accordian sheet again.
I greasu up and pry on regular heater hose, cut a little short with thin hose clamps.
Phil Burke

Thats what I did... You have to plan it out 1st

I put the small heater hose (self made) on the pump and then put the head on to the engne

DUH... and there is the flaw in my logic... your not pulling the head, are you?

The little accordian hose is going to be your BEST option most likely... depends on how stiff the heater hose is... ive done it without issue (Pure luck I guess), but others have bitten there tongues off cursing at it
Prop

Ah! Now I know- Thanks!

Phil,

The hoses in the photo were all water pump hoses, here's one on it's own. E-mail me and I'll work out a price for just that hose.

You need to advise the colour.

I do know that I can't give you a postage price until you decide how you want it shippped: surface economy, airmail, airmail signed for.

Daniel Thirteen-Twelve

What Phil wouldnt give for a 3D printer right now...Instant hose... just download it and print it out.

vary trekky

Thanks Daniel,
I ordered a standard hose, so I could finish this quickly.

When you have them, how much is a complete set in blue?
Are there matching lenghts available in sizes to do the lines attached to the carbs?
I guess I wouldn't need any expedited shipping, slow boat would be fine.
Phil

Hi Phil, I only have them when someone has paid and ordered from me. The exception is the downflow radiator set in orange which also explains why I only have them when someone pays me.

E-mail me and I'll send a price list.

You need a different kind of hose for fuel lines which I don't sell.
