MG Midget and Sprite General - Any propshaft balancers Lincoln UK?

Once I have acquired a sierra propshaft for my type9 'box, does anybody know of an engineering place in or fairly near to Lincoln so I can get it welded up to a midget propshaft back end and get it balance?
Frontline were a no-show at silverstone this weekend so they've lost my business unfortunately.

Hi Bob, I was in and out of there, it was a bit too hot to stay!

I'll give Mike a call tomorrow and see if its something he'll entertain.

I may do the Auto-solo next weekend if all goes to plan (not in the midget of course)

Id of thought any engineering place would do the welding? as long as it looks stright i've heard of people jacking up the back of the car and driving the wheels and litterally using jewbilee clips as weights to balance and stop vibrations?

I don't think welding one up is an issue its the balancing that seems to be the problem. I think I'll try and do it right before I go down the Heath Robinson route!

I used Greno-Garage who make and balance prop shafts. Grenoside - north Sheffield. they retubed refurbished and fully balanced mine. Around £120 I guess todays prices.

Hmmm sorry about that Steve, the other place I have been thinking of was somewhere in Hull.

I used them many years ago but have lost their details I will try to remember tonight!

Yep my son makes SS exhaust systems, unfortunately he does not do manifolds only systems, although he can modify existing manifolds for you. Let me know when you need a quote

If you are willing to travel down the A1 a wee bit, then try Bailey Morris in Eaton Socon (near St Neots).

They re-made the prop for our racer and did a fantastic job:

Frontline are not the only fish in the "type9 for Spridgets sea" you know

Morris Minor Centre developed the type 9 into Spridgets business years ago. They started by cutting the bell housings off ribcase boxes when they were plentiful, modfying them to be bolted to type 9s and getting on with a world beating mod. Then had special castings made when the ribcase supplies dried up

I bought my propshaft and the driven clutch plate from them in 2005

There is a propshaft place up in Leeds if you are still having trouble: Dunning & Fairbanks.

Update, (I should have explained) I'm doing a K series conversion with the T9 'box. MMC do the shaft but it is 3 inches too long for the 'K' application at 29.25 inches next 26.3 for a K.

Onwards with the research.........

Steve, I should have added that I ordered the prop from BarProp by telephone one day and collected it all made up the next. That's what I call service!

So far Bailey Morris that Deborah mentioned seems the best bet, they said don't bother getting hold of a sierra prop, they've got the female spline end on the shelf. They just need my propshaft and they'll do the rest :)

Just an update for the archives, barpropshafts that Neil mentions is the one to go for. They will make it from scratch (I can sell my 1500 shaft complete now!) so I don't have to post anything there. I gave them the dimensions and it'll be on my door step friday at the most competitive price! :)
