MG Midget and Sprite General - All hail and bow before the cardnials... we WON!!!

WE are the WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS...cardnials rule

Hollywood is going to make movies of this team...i just cant belive the st louis baseball team was dead on arival almost no chqnce to even make the wild card and then played the entire post seadone as the underdog

If there is one thing i love more then a mut, its a written of underdog.... Gez what a season, but even more what a team....it just goes to prove, yoy got to belive in yourself even when everyone has written you off... You just have to gut it out and keep moving forward, no matter the cost or sacrafices

Im so proud to be from missouri, even if it is just a game...

So what international teams play in this World Series? If there are no teams in it from other countries then it tries to imply there is no world outside of the US. Surely people in the US realise there are others out there beyond their shores?

Congtas on your team becoming the NATIONAL LEAGUE CHAMPIONS.

Greg,

"Surely people in the US realise there are others out there beyond their shores?"

Go to the US most of them think the world ends at their shores. Mention Europe and many they think its a country. Apologies to those who know better.

Prop,

Enjoy it while you can, winter is on the way. Time to put the fixed roof on your Midget.

Greg,

To enjoy a sporting event (live) with family, and friends is a great diversion from our normal working lives regardless of venue. Most of us know any claims to championships beyond that, are purely in ones mind. Myself it's hockey, thank you Canada.

Mike,

No apology necessary, but as you also know ignorance has no real borders and will stop there.

Regards,

Sorry Prop, but after becomming worldchampion Baseball 2 weeks ago we are still celebrating and completly missed the cardinals game.
The Netherlands winning over the US & Cuba, unbelievable but brilliant.

Next year we will even be champion in America's biggest sport: THE WWF world wrestling Federation (or what ever the official name is now) :)

I don't know when or how the "World Series" monicker was applied to our national championship, but it does tend to add a bit of luster to what is already a hugely popular event over here. We're not ALL that naive, since many of us here in the US actually do know that baseball has been played in Japan for as long as it has in the States, and that the game really is played internationally... But the title has become part of our vernacular, and referring to the World Series is much like discussing the Indy 500, the Super Bowl, or any other keystone sporting event. We know the term isn't fully accurate, but that's what the championship has always been called, so there. :-)

That said, those in the know appreciate this latest Series for the amazing comeback of the Cardinals; many didn't even expect them to make it to the playoffs; the personalities involved, and the pomp and ceremony attending the whole affair. It's been a great season, our boys took home the pennant, and it's now - finally - autumn.

And to comment on the side, the major sports networks tend to "overlook" teams that aren't on the coasts. All of which makes it all the better that the Cardinals, from out here in "flyover country" took the laurels, having eliminated the big boys.

Cheers,
