MG Midget and Sprite General - Ace Cafe August meeting
Message repeated on the events section Tuesday evening. It will be fun (as usual) and great food (as usual).
Gary & Gaps
Gary, Hoping to make it but waiting for a courier to turn up with my new exhaust as I type. If he doesn't arrive or I can't fit it tonight, I'll see you next month! Matthew

SS&NB-MASC &1 should arrive en masse some time soon (?) after we leave Hendon tomorrow evening… Great food anticipated, good company expected as usual. Nice cars too. How to beat that on a Tuesday evening? B

1x T shirt ready and waiting
Gary & Gaps
Exhaust just arrived by courier. If I can get it on tonight I'll be there.

Plans are starting for a trip over next September for the Goodwood Revival and other stops. I'd enjoy meeting with one or more of the area groups either in the London area or the southeast. I'll keep up with them in MASCOT if I can and try to work into the schedule.

Well got my exhaust on and been for a good test run but got back to watch the news and given the appalling scenes, I'm not going near London tomorrow! I hope no-one here has been affected but can't help but worry about Gary's office amongst others.

just about to leave sunny tamworth to go and meet up with other SS&NB's see you all later
John Collins
I was gonna pop along to this one but given the events of last night I'm not sure...
Bob T
Pop along Bob, it will be fine. Camden is in a bit of a mess with one computer games shop and 3 mobile phone shops trashed. The culprits turned up on mass at 11.00pm last night, calmly parked their cars before massing as pre arranged before hitting specific shops. These people weren't disaffected/disenfranchised youth. these were grown men in their late twenties and thirties targeting specific shops for financial gain.
Gary & Gaps
Well at least it wasn't too bad and that you're ok. All of Croydon looks like a bad day in Beirut! I'll try & make the run out later.

| well I got home at 11:35 on tuesday night. approx 240ish mile round trip, great visit to hendon - i really recommend this museum, even if you only have the slightest interest in planes. I really enjoyed it and could do with another look around. it was the 1st time i've been to the ace, and again I'd recommend it - especially the sausage and mash! some lovely cars there as well to have a look around, and great people to chat with. brilliant drive there and back too - it always seems more fun to be in a swarm of spridgets rather than driving on your own! just about to have a cold beer now before bedtime. | Quiet night at The Ace we got pole!! Certain "big-let-downs" didn't appear ;-) And there was so much fear in "That London" that many others didn't either! But many of us did, great night out after a great drive down the A roads from SS&NB. Towcester and MK were fine but Dunstable, what a hellish road to drive through That said, the ride down the A5 was a very pleasant alternative to the Motorways.

Good to see you all again and I'd like the engine out of that red one on then end please.
Gary & Gaps
snapety snap Gary first dibs I seen it first see knoworrImeeenn? :)

Wish I'd gone now!(nearly named and shamed by Bill!) I'll be there next month all other things being equal. It does look a bit quiet on Bill's photo! Bill, if you want an alternative to the A5 and to avoid the hellhole that is Dunstable, try coming off the M1 or A5 at junction 15 (Northampton/Towcester) and take the A43 towards Silverstone but turn off befor you get there following the signs for Buckingham down the A413 to Aylesbury then take the A41 down to Watford and do the last stretch on the M1. I'm about 5 miles north of Aylesbury on the A413 and it takes me about 45-50 minutes to get home from the Ace by that route (with foot down of course!). Nice fast, twisty driving roads until you get to Aylesbury as well and dual carriageway/motorway from there onto the North Circular.

| named and shamed? Moi? no way I prefer the M40 to use when I'm off to the Ace... but the route you mention shall go in a best routes database one day :) The prize that Gary and I would fight over? Yertis 8 ports 4 carbs crossflow lovely and as quick as you'd like it to be

Phwoar!
Matt1275Bucks
Phwoar indeed.
Gary & Gaps
| I thought Prop would enjoy seeing Midgets (and Sprite too)in front of a Spitfire Could say it's the natural place to be :)
|
Bill 1
Oh! That engine is pure automotive porn. I'd love to get to the Ace someday, but Stockport is a bit far for a one off meal and natter. Strangely, I used to pass it most days when I lived in North London in the 60's and Yes, I was in my Sprite even then. Bernie.
