MG Midget and Sprite General - acceleration

So my Midget does 0- 84.5mph in 15.595 seconds, and 0 - 70.2 mph in 9.87 seconds. Anybody got any acurate 0 - 60 times? I would love to know mine, as the 0 - 70 includes an extra gearchange. I know 0 - 60 means nothing, but it is a benchmark you can compare to.

Difficult to tell as 60 on my speedo is about 68mhp in reality.

Must be pretty quicky, you would have to allow 0.75 s for the gearchange, another 2 for the 60 to 70...how much power did you say it made?

Hi Robin, how are you? I stayed with Alex a few weeks ago. Now that car accelerates!!!
Last time on the rolling road it made about 115 at the flywheel. And it was timed on the drag strip!
How acurate would the smart phone app be? I may have to try that.
Mick, I gave you an example of Midget acceleration many years ago hoping it would inspire you. obviously didn't work.

Alex's golf is untasteful, blinged up and goes like sh*(t off a shovel! Terrifying. I think it's over 400bhp.

I had my Midget on the rollers recently to check the needles/setup. Unfortunately, there was a missfire at high revs so no final power run. The annoying thing was, I lifted the bonnet that night, leant on No 1 plug lead and it clicked on!! No missfire. So, no power figures.

the speedo reading is nonsense though... especially if you have not standard tyre sizes on. I have 155's on the back and 145's on the front! It underreads by about 10%... get a good gps phone and decent app...

My speedo is a 120mph unit recalibrated by John Ostick(?) in Kighley. It is spot on according to my sat nav.
Robin - Lynne agrees with you on the taste issue. I have never accelerated from 50 - 140 that fast in a car before, not even sure I have on an aeroplane!

Mine does 9sec for 0-60 measured by a variety of GPS apps on my smartphone. (granularity is only to the nearest half second though).

Thats a 1380 with HIF44, Big valve head, cam etc. Std gearbox & diff.
