I just KNOW that I should know wot this means: Berkeley Mini Cobra Body Set, No Frogeye But I don't. Can someone please translate??
chuckc
Your guess is as good as mine Chuck.

Ah, a tactical sales pitch eh?
Neil K
| The auction is for "Berkeley Body Set for Mini chassis" the "no frogeye" just makes sure it shows up when people are searching for frogeye sprites.. The seller is hoping that someone searching for a nice original frogeye....suddenly decides to build a mini based kit car instead on first sight of his picture. Might look something like this...
|
Dean Smith ('73 RWA)
I'm familiar with the 3 wheeled version but not the 4 wheeler. The 3 wheeler was a quick car with a 750cc engine I recall.

I get that however I dont see how the 2 subframes from a Mini manage to suport the front and rear parts of the kit. Somehow this need some sort of chassis?
Robert (Bob) Midget Turbo
I guess the moulding itself forms the strength and the sub frames the fixing points for the suspension and wheels, just like a mini.

I know i sound like the crazy uncle living in the attic from time to time But i have to say.... I like the apperance of the little kit....esp the red one in the photo Just simply classy Prop
Prop and the Blackhole Midget
Neil, 750 would be the bigger engined car, they had 300 and 500 :)
Nigel Atkins
I had an old friend with one of these in a garage, it wasn't mini based, but it had a 2 cyl motorbike engine in the front, a tiny alloy ladder chassis and bulkhead and a fibreglass body just like that. Perhaps he means mini as in small? The thing was TINY, made a midget look big, and weighed about 400 kilos all in, swing axle rear suspension and I believe it was front wheel drive. The rear end was light enough for one person to lift, apparently it was a little exciting to drive...

Had a friend at School who had a 3 wheeler one after he passed his test. He rolled it on a roundabout but got out without injury. I think the seller of this one means that the this 4 wheel version has the bonnet height extended to facilitate an A series mini engine. In my opinion the image above makes the car look more attractive than it actually is, but it's ugly in an cute way. Bit like a Frogeye really.

What I meant to say was I Think that he means, like a small Cobra but perhaps the seller of this one means that the this 4 wheel version has the bonnet height extended to facilitate an A series mini engine as I have seen them converted to take them. In my opinion the image above makes the car look more attractive than it actually is, but it's ugly in an cute way. Bit like a Frogeye really.

The plastic sections are clearly two separate units, front and back, so they cannot possibly provide the "chassis" simply by bolting on the mini subframes. I think what the seller means when he says "for Mini chassis" is it goes on a mini floor pan. (like the Tifosi?) The 3/4 rear view makes it look sort of ok but they are ugly and badly proportioned things. The original 3 wheeler was far better and didn't pretend to be something that it wasn't!
Guy
Of course Guy. I should have paid more attention. Uhm interesting. Must need a floor pan/ chassis as you rightly point out.
Neil K
perhaps he means: Berkeley, mini Cobra (style) body set - no(t) Frogeye
