MG Midget and Sprite General - AArrrggghhh - a day like Prop's
Gorgeous day here in NC, near 70. Went to get the 72 Midget for a quick shopping trip. Turn the key, engine fires, hit the gas, and the gas pedal hits the floor with a loud POP!!. Okay, yanked the cable and installed a bicycle shift cable (man, there is now room to turn a wrench between the two SUs!!). Now she starts and gets gas and all is well. Then a funny sound. Got a fuel leak in the hose from the pipe to the fuel filter. Fixed that with a new length of hose. She starts, she runs, and off we go for a test ride. Down the street, round the corner, and .... sputter, cough, DEAD!! No fuel in the filter. Walked home; got the wife and another car, and towed it home. Thar she sits. Anyone want a 72 Midget??

I'm guessing either the pump or the lower end of the hose. That's for another day ... maybe. We go from 70's and sunny today to 40's and cloudy tomorrow. Maybe (??) some rain on the weekend. Somehow, with nasty winter weather all around us (even Hotlanta was cold today), we have escaped this crud. Knocks Loudly On Wooden Head.

Think I may have replaced the leaking fuel hose with a vacuum hose. Would that have done it?? Today I got a real fuel hose and put it in. Seems to start and run better now.

Ouch. Chuck, Might want to run some carb cleaner thur the tank to make sure you dont have any hose junk in the carbs....maybe give the floats chamber a good cleaning Glad its working
