MG Midget and Sprite General - A3 Hindhead Tunnel
| I have just returned from the first decent run my Midget has had for nearly three years. Having lost interest after too many personal setbacks in the Winter of 2008/09, I got my act together, with help from this forum, recommissioned the car and had it MOT'd in June. Since then I have had a few short runs without problems so today I decided on a longer run. I decided to drive north and explore the new Hindhead tunnel which opened last week. It is c1.25miles long and awesome, especially in a Midget. My 1275 has a quite throaty exhaust note that turns into more of a roar at 3000/3500 RPM before settling down again. Northbound I couldn't keep the revs at the right level for best effect, but southbound I made sure I had some space ahead of me and I managed to keep to 3000/3500 for about half the tunnel length - the sound was pure music. Midget magic! If you live in the South, have a throaty exhaust and enjoy its sound, I recommend a trip through the tunnel and, indeed, many of the underpasses nearby. Happy listening. Ray |

| Great to hear that you're back on the road and having fun. All too often we never get to hear the nice sound of our own car's exhaust as others do, a tunnel is an ideal place I'm sure. |
