I like it, very nice!

Did you do a new soft top (hood)?
If so, where did you get that one? It fits just so nicely, and I'm looking for one just like it.
Thanks,

Rick B.
Rick Bastedo

Rick,The top was done by Boffo Motors in New Brighten,PA They have a web site.

It's a nice hood - but, is the year wrong?

It's just - well, it's got square back arches and the wrong size engine ... :) Mind you, perhaps I should buy it and save me the trouble to importing, but, then again - I'd only ruin such a good little car!
rachmacb

Very nice
Gary Lazarus

Beautiful car.
Jordan Gibson

That is a very nice car. Wish it was over here.
John Payne

Stunning car !
Near perfect condition; replace the Sprite steering wheel and speedo and you have a concours contender IMHO.
Cheers,

Rachmacb,It would be a wise buy. The square rear arches are correct. If you check the book The Original Sprite & Midget by Terry Horler ,you will note on page 67 the engine change to a 1098,with the arrival of disc brakes, an improved gearbox and revised interior trim.I hope this clears this up for you.

nice car

go on Rach

you know you want to madam

suits you it does

suits you

(then you'd have best of both, really)

BILL - I am SHOCKED!!!!!!!!!!!!

You, of all people, should know that no-one would ever come between me and my beloved Primerose.

She will be going where-ever I go, whenever I go, forever and ever amen :)

I'm still surprised though, coz my dad's midget was from that era - and most certainly had the 1098 and rwa!
rachmacb

Rach,

Any man here will tell you what wrath can be unleased by getting your loved one's name wrong. "Primerose" indeed!
Gary Lazarus

LOL - she was changed TO Primerose in an official e-mail one day - and besides, she's just so much more in her prime than any common or garden flower ;)!!!!
rachmacb

Rach

Then you'll be even more surpised to learn that the RWA design wasn't MG's idea... someone in the Leyland design office pulled a fast one and introduced this change against MGs better judgement, IIRC from several books.

It lasted from ~late 72 to ~early 74.

Arch reverted to square with extra strength required for rubber bumper/rear impact.

It wasn't uncommon in 60s/70s for owners to change the rear arch to round on earlier models, to fit larger wheels/tyres (and make changing wheels easier, too).

Actually this applied to several types of cars, giving rise to the Carlos Fandango cigar ad that some of us remember with fondness. (Seen it recently on Youtube.)

Rach dearest

when you calm down and restart your knitting... :-)

I did say have BOTH

And as Anthony so succinctly points out

your dad's car should not have had RWA unless some jugglery pokery had been going on... Not with a 1098...

Careful now or the "Correctitude Police" will begin poking about

We don't want any of that stuff around here now

Nick
you forgot to mention
gear knob
gear stick cover (should be body colour)
coil
carpet in the boot

but who cares!
great looking car
some one will have a lot of fun with that
Rach.....
Onno Könemann

Rach has left the building with a castration knife and was last seen heading towards the Midlands - to deal with the latest person who mentionned knitting ... :)
rachmacb

Onno,
Yes you're right: who cares....
While the whole MG world gets enthusiastic about pull-handle MGB's with three mainbearing engines or solid wheel MG TD's, the early Spridgets seem to be largely forgotten. The reason for that is a mystery to me.
However there were less GAN2 Midgets built than MG TC's, fewer still with factory wire wheels. Only a tiny number of survivors are restored as nice as this one.

Nick Herwegh

now i must admit that i am rather fond of TD's on disk wheels and three main bearing pullhandle B's
but that is just because that small wires make a T-type look bad (TC's are in proportion)
and 3 mains engines feel so nice

But anny MG regardless of the look/feel deserves to be driven.
so i realy hope that this verry nice example gets used a bit more by its future owner
