MG Midget and Sprite General - 1275 Aseries for sale

A friend of mine has a complete 1275 Aseries for sale; should he sell it complete, or as parts?

It has (assembled): block, head, carbs, ex header, dyno, w/pump, dissy. No flywheel; seized due to many years of non-use.

Advise welcome. Thx.

Hi David

That's sadly what I figured... Midgets are worth more in parts than they are as a runner!

I'm in no hurry, and won't have space in my garage until my son moves house later in March (currently all his furniture and garage equips in our house and garage... we have rooms that are full to the ceiling with his stuff, and the Midget only *just* fits in the garage.

BTW - also have hood frame, wind-screen and back axle (but likley I will retain diff assy and 1/2 shafts); it has handbrake rods, drums, ...)

Depends on how much he's wanting really - and whether it's important to him for it to go whole!

My personal thoughts for parting out an entire engine.

I guess something to consider is how long will it take to dis-assemble an old rusty engine where every bolt and nut is going to fight you and demands lots of PB breaker and oxy-actlene torch time before coming loose,

the time involved in catologing, cleaning up, and packaging each part, then the time and fees needed to up load and register each part onto ebay, then the hassle of collecting the money from buyers in nigeria,

Then there is the UN-holy mother of all gods trip during working hours only to stand in line at the post office for a good 2 hours just to ship all the individual parts. each with there own shipping lables and postal price fees. and you know thats going to take like at least 6 trips to the post office before you finally get all those engine pieces sold and delivered,

Not to mention if you draw the short straw of lifes little wonders and an ebay buyer wants to return a part he dosnt want for some unknown reason. because if that happens Then your defintly gonna be playing in "Satens play ground for dead children". cause there is no winning a fight that starts with a 6 week long email conflict and ebay is the final dispute resulator... as the ghost of experiance says...good luck giving that ferrel cat an ice cold bath.

Yeah... you should really start a blog and part that sucker out. LOL. rethorically speaking ... how much money do you make an hour on the job? and how much are you going to (Actually) make an hour parting out individual engine items

Just my thoughts

Well, it depends if you're using your paid time or leisure time to strip the engine.

If it takes 4 hours of work time, then no. But if it means giving up yet another re-run of the Sound of Music then you may as well get paid for passing time LOL

And don't forget ths is an A Series, not a 1500, so it's a quality piece of kit to start with LPL

LOL

Not sure any A Series would ever be considered a rusty bit of kit. You need to be oil tight for a start:)

Don't you like Julie mate?

I'm a little confused, is it a whole car or just the engine? I would be interested in just an engine...
t halket

t, I read it as an engine; if you need one I can lay my hands on a spare for you. See email earlier in thread.
