MG Midget and Sprite General - 1/4 light

Okay it has me puzzled now
what is the use of the little metal corner in the 1/4 light?

The glass has come out of mine on the driver side and I can not find a use for it.
Any problems with putting the glass back without this piece?

Onno Könemann

why not re-use it?

there is no limit to how much this may reduce your resale value / Pebble Beach competition result, without it.

Kidding aside, when I redid mine, I seem to remember that corner of the glass was cut on a diagonal, and that little piece completed the shape.

I think that if you are driving in the rain with your quarterlight open, that piece stops rainwater from running off the glass and into the car.

Rubber bumpers by any chance? :)
There loads of them available as nowadays everyone(except "oldfashioned"Rach);) seems to remove them.
