Austin-Healey Sprite - Tire size

I want to put a set of Minilite wheels on my 1960 Frog Eye Sprite. The stock wheels are 13X4, the minilite wheels are 13X5. My question is; What size tire can I put on these wheels and not have to worry about them rubbing?
Thanks,
Will

I used Pirelli 175-70 on my Minatour (splined-hub) wheels and they seem to clear OK.

Got the same question. '59 Bugeye...how big can I go without rubbing. I want to use BFG Radial TA 175/70R13...but might up to 175/65R14. Thoughts? Please email.

Hi Guys, I have had 4.5inch Vega wheels on my bugeye and the 'tyre' size happened to be 185/60R13 for autocross.. These are outset more then the wheels you have.

I also have a set of J.A.P. wheels that are 6.5" true magnezium (not aluminium) that would have fit these better. These have an outset Waay off from original.. They look like they hang out about 1+ inch from the outer arch!

The nice thing about Bugeyes is that we can put spacers between the wheel and hub to get extra room without worry about outer wheel arch except on hard bounce..

Will 175s fit on those rims? I believe so. Worst case senerio, use spacers. I believe Moss now sells the spacers that Minis have been using in the UK for a long time, otherwise, MiniMania, MiniMotors or others. Just and a dot com to any of there names, I believe that will get you to thier sites.

Good Luck,
-BMC.
