Austin-Healey Sprite - Starter problem
| HELP. I am unable to start my frogeye after the winter lay up battery has been cycled all winter and holds a full charge. Nothing happens when the starter is pulled no click, the square end of the starter can be turned with a spanner so could the bendix be stuck? how would I free this? |

| turning the square end will usually free it.if there is no click then Are you sure the solenoid is getting power ? and then letting power get to starter ?, is your earth strap in good condition ? , is (heaven fobid)you engine seized? , if it is the starter at fault no choice but to remove it and free off the bendix , the usual trouble is worn teeth on the flywheel tho' if its stuck there. , check for a broken spring on the bendix (unlikely ) all should be free to move and do not lubricate with grease just use graphite powder or maybe a litttle smear of vaseline or have you started it yet ? |
