Austin-Healey Sprite - Quarter eleptic springs
Has anybody any experience of fitting new rear springs to a Frogeye Sprite? I believe some replacement springs may be heavier than original ones and raise the rear too high. Any advice would be appreciated.

I believe the original ones were fifteen leaf and the new replacement ones are nine leaf but stronger (which I've just had fitted to my frogeye) So yes the rear will sit higher. You can either fit lowering blocks or hopefully wait for new springs to settle. you could assist them by putting some extra weight in the rear for a while. hope that helps

I have done the rear quarter elliptics. There was a heavier spring with 9 leaves made by Duraflex in the 1960s. It was listed as a proper mod by BMC. But you needed slightly longer bolts to fit from the spring hanger into the top monting plate. Beware some modern springs have not been forged very well.

Eric, Welcome. I've read your stuff in Mascot and you come highly recommended from Carson.
