Austin-Healey Sprite - MGA six bladed fan on BUGEYE
| My 942cc bugeye runs "HOT" could I put a MGA 6-bladed fan on the water pump?? Would this help cool it?? |

| Tom, A later plastic fan from the 1275 series motors will directly bolt on and will help cool the vehicle. These are around $30 from Moss motors or Victoria British. The bolts might be slightly longer so you may need a set of those too, but they can be found at a local hardware store as they are 1/4" NF (fine) thread. This will assist in your cooling but should not be an issue at lower speeds. You may want to check over the rest of your motor. Since it is a newly rebuilt unit as stated in another thread, I would look over a few other items or take it back to the gentleman who rebuilt it. This motor should be tuned properly after rebuild as to avoid possible major damage and the need to rebuild all over again. I have seen several people who do not understand how to properly tune their motors (British and all other kinds too) and have ruined them due to this. -BMC. |
