Austin-Healey Sprite - 1969 Sprite
| Hello, I purchased a running 1969 AH Sprite about 1 1/2 yrs ago. It was a complete car sitting since 1979 and had 51,000 miles on it. There were some records that verified this to be original. The car was a rusted mess and there was no hope of saving it. I knew this going into it and knew that it would be for parts. I am an MG/Britsh car guy & could not see passing this up. I kept just about every nut & bolt off of the car & tossed the body bit by bit in a dumpster. ;-( In terms of body parts, I have the lower driver quarter panel but that is about it. I kept the doors but only to strip the bits & glass out of. It had a lucas sealed beam headlight with I though was unique to find. The car had all of the manuals & even the metal tag that was in the manual & mounted to the heater box. (Don't know that this is called) I kept all of the body id numbers as well. I could actually throw all the parts, engine/tranny on a new body still have a matching numbers car. Cheating I know. Any way. I know that MG/AH were virtually the same except for the badges and a few other things. If anyone here needs an odd nut, bolt or part, that is specific to the AH and not on the MG, let me know & I would be glad to be of assistance, if I still have something leftover. This is not a sales pitch. I just want to see some of these parts go to good use and keep the cars going. Vinnie |
