Austin-Healey 3000 - Brake Servos
What are the reasonable alternatives for non-functional brake servos on Austin Healey 3000s? Buying new at almost $600 is a bit much. Resleeving and rebuilding by Apple Hydraulics is $375.00. Rebuild kit is around $70.00. Is there common wisdom for what to do and/or not to do?

Jim; While I do not have a servo on my Healey, I have read about others that have successfully rebuilt theirs.I remember reading that there is a special dry lubricant that is necessary for reassembly, but unfortunately I do not remember the details. You might try posting in the MGB section, as there are some real guru's there that can help. Also, check the faq/archive section, as I know this has been discussed. There is another forum, www.britishcarforum.com that is more active for Healey's, you might check there as well. If you are not a member of the Atlanta chapter of the AH Club, I recommend you join. membership contact is Charlie Moshell. Newsletter editor's email is Imercibn6@mindspring.com. They have a website at www.atlantahealeys.cjb.net, and probably have a membership form available. Pete Haburt NEOhioAHC

I happened to run across a old (1988) Moss newsletter that had an article about rebuilding AH servos. A dry film (moly disulfide)lubricant was mentioned. It was made by Sandstrom Products Co. and identified as "26A".Also, a vendor recomended on the Buckeye Triumph website, rebuilds servos (TR6) for $85.
